We love to be hosts

Welcome to the Striedingers

Our farm is located in Vordernöring, six kilometers from the artist town of Gmünd at 1000 meters above sea level in the Carinthian Liesertal - in the immediate vicinity of the Nockberge biosphere reserve. It's wonderfully quiet and green here!

From the farm you can see the mountain that gives our house its name: The Hochalmspitze - also known as the "Tauernkönigin" - is the highest point in the Ankogel group and is covered with snow even in midsummer. No wonder that our guests are the first to exclaim: "Do you have a beautiful view!"

Two generations of Striedingers live on the farm: son Andreas has already leased the farm. Brigitte is responsible for the paperwork and, together with Sepp, for the guest program. The cooking is done by Claudia, who is a trained cook and confectioner and conjures up wonderful delicacies on the plate.

And of course our animals also belong to the family: cows, calves, pigs, a cat, a pony, rabbits, a beautiful rooster, guinea pigs - and our chickens, true to the motto: Every child has their godfather!

Our 100 year old stories

We always had fun :-)

Our house is a hundred years old! It's logical that the walls have a lot to tell ... For example, from the very first guests from Denmark who took the bus to Spittal in 1952 and then took the Postbus to Eisentratten. "We picked them up there with a horse-drawn carriage with sacks and bags," recalls Sepp Striedinger senior. exactly to the first vacationers at the farm in Vordernöring. "The house was always a farm. My mother's existence as a farmer was too boring, so she started running the inn," says Sepp sen. further. "At that time we were still a bit removed from today's comfort: there was only hot water in the corridor for all rooms. But that didn't bother anyone." It was always fun: at the church day or at the masked balls in their own dance hall - or throwing balls, which is still the custom today on Easter Sunday.

In 1984 Sepp jun. the farm. After the wedding with Brigitte in 1990, the two jumped on the "baby hotel train" with a lot of energy and ideas. Her motto: quality instead of quantity! Most of the food on the plate comes from our own production - and the hosts attach great importance to a family atmosphere. "This creates friendships," say the Striedingers. There are tractor trips, hikes and bike tours with the guest families. The children like to "help" in the stable, and that's why every young guest gets a "godfather", which is a fresh breakfast egg every day supplies.

Hospitality for 100 years

Even the "vacation testers" from the television channel Puls4 have already visited us. Her nice conclusion: "Come as a guest, leave as a friend!" That is obviously also the motto of our regular host families.
The Huber family, for example, spent their holiday with us for the twelfth time. The youngest of her three children was just ten months old when she first stayed. What do you like so much here? “That the farm grows with the age of the children. They always find activities that they enjoy. ”In fact, we started with a baby farm. When our own son was out of diapers, we decided to expand the range. Families are still the main target group today, but we specialized in exercise: the sports farm was born. A very authentic focus, after all, we are very active in sports and also like to accompany our guests on the mountain or the ski slopes. The change should not be limited to the name: The rather simple rooms were converted into comfortable, well-equipped family rooms. In a sense, good cuisine is the icing on the cake. How did the Huber family put it so nicely? "A big plus that speaks for the farm is the half-board. That makes catering on vacation completely problem-free, especially since the kitchen is very good."
